My Death, My Funeral Podcast ⁄ Podcast

This podcast — by Barbro Ohlson Smith — delves into the themes of life, death, and funerals—centered around the funeral itself. Who are funerals really for? Why are they conducted the way they are? Who decides how they are designed and presented, and what aspects are shaped by tradition, stereotypes, or chance?

This podcast spans cultural differences, traditions, practical advice, and life philosophy, offering an intimate, in-depth look at what a meaningful farewell can truly be. The series aims to open conversations, encouraging us to become more familiar with both life and death through the lens of the funeral.

Across more than 50 episodes, we engage in discussions with a wide range of personalities, fostering a more open dialogue about death as a natural part of life. Guests come from diverse backgrounds—writers, artists, doctors, funeral directors, musicians, politicians, journalists, priests, and others—each bringing unique perspectives on life, death, and the significance of the farewell.

For me, this podcast is an representative example of the type of explorations I use in all my artistic practices—a deep dive into topics that often remains unspoken.
