Mormor (Grandmother)
—Series of Textile Collages

⁄ Textile Sculptures

Textile Sculptures / Stockholm, 2022—2023

This series emerged from my reflections on what we do with the possessions that older generations leave behind.

I created the first collage, Mormor, with the various textiles I inherited from my grandmother – tea towels, crocheted tablecloths, linen napkins, pillowcases, etc. The artwork celebrates her life of dedication and all she accomplished – as a woman, wife and mother.

Like many women of her generation, Grandmother Eda was a homemaker who quietly managed her work and whose contributions went unrecognised in the public sphere.

Eda is gone, but her textiles remain. They outlasted all her hopes, friendships, loves, moments of joy and sorrows. They outlasted her life itself. Yet, traces of her life are still present here, even beyond her death.
