About Us

Ohlsonsmith is a Stockholm-based design studio committed to emotional design. Emotional design is intuitive, curious, expressive, playful, daring. It comes from both heart and mind and speaks to both heart and mind. We combine it with a keen sense of business and marketing to help clients reach their objectives and create the right image to be seen, felt and remembered.

Our clients range from small, emerging companies to very large ones. And they operate in different disciplines, from entertainment and culture to fashion. We also work in many media – print, packaging, motion graphics, web and environments – as well as create entire brand identities.

Regardless of media, client or discipline, our work is always driven by ideas and results. And our approach is always the same; we collaborate closely with our clients to communicate the character and goals of their companies, products and ideas.

Who We Are



Barbro Ohlson Smith

CEO, founder and Creative director. Barbro has previously held the positions of Head of Graphic design and Creative director at Swedish Television Channel TV4, and Head of Art direction at Berghs School of Communication in Stockholm. She has also served as President of the Art Directors Club of Europe, ADCE, 2000–2002. Barbro started her career at the London-based design consultancy CDT, Carroll, Dempsey & Thirkell, which she joined after completing her degree at Central Saint Martins School of Art & Design.

In addition to Ohlsonsmith, Barbro devotes time to design through extensive lecturing, writing, judging and as board member of Komm, the Swedish Association of Communication Agencies.

Erik Leonsson

Art director and designer. Erik was art director for the redesign of the Swedish daily newspaper Dagens Nyheter's weekly tabloid »DN På stan« in 2006. Besides DN, Erik has several years of experience as freelance art director, designer and photographer. He is also the co-founder of Sweden's leading community for photographers, »Fotosidan.se«. Erik is a Berghs School of Communication graduate.

Petter Hollström

Art director and designer. Experience from Swedish advertising agency Rå and freelance graphic design before joining Ohlsonsmith after two years of studies at Berghs School of Communication. Petter is founder of Odeur, a small emerging fashion brand and co-founder of ytlig.se.

Patrick Smith

Copywriter, Concept developer. Founded production company Storstadsfilm in the 90s, a company that among all sorts of awards and nominations recieved a »Silver Lion« i Cannes. Today Patrick mixes Conceptual development with copy and strategic writing. Patrick is also a Berghs School of Communication graduate.
